At Atascazoo Animal Hospital, we diagnose your pet before implementing any treatment. That’s why we are equipped with the latest veterinary diagnostic technology for your dog, cat, or exotic pet.
Radiology
Radiographs (x-rays) are one of the most powerful diagnostic tools we use when examining your pet. X-rays are useful in examining a number of different areas of your pet’s body, from the musculoskeletal system to the heart and the lungs.
X-rays are often employed in diagnosing fractures, osteoarthritis and inflammatory bone diseases. X-rays are also used in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory problems, such as asthma and bronchitis, pneumonia and infection. Heartworm infection and heart disease can also be diagnosed using x-rays. Atascazoo Animal Hospital partners with Dr. Oscar Ramirez, a board-certified veterinary radiologist, who comes to our practice each month to provide a second review of radiographs.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an advanced imaging technique that uses soundwaves to provide a real-time, moving image of your pet’s internal organs. This procedure is especially useful when examining conditions in your pet’s abdomen and heart. Ultrasound is also effective at detecting tumors and foreign bodies in your pet’s abdominal cavity and diagnosing heart disease. This diagnostic procedure is also frequently used for pregnancy evaluations. Dr. Oscar Ramirez, a board-certified veterinary radiologist, performs advanced cardiac and abdominal ultrasound procedures for your pet at Atascazoo Animal Hospital.
